The Island Within – Original Acrylic Painting (100 × 73 cm)

The Island Within explores the invisible connection between identity, belonging and the places that become part of who we are.

Inspired by the Canary Islands and the artistic atmosphere surrounding a music video filmed in Gáldar, Gran Canaria, in which I had the opportunity to participate, this painting brings together music, portraiture and personal experience in a contemporary artistic interpretation.

At its centre, the portrait becomes a reflection of individuality and self-expression. Beyond the recognizable features, it represents the relationship between a person and the environment that shapes their identity — the culture, landscapes, memories and experiences that remain within us.

The inspiration comes from the visual world of Quevedo and the energy of contemporary urban music, reinterpreted through my own artistic language. Rather than simply portraying a musical figure, the artwork explores a deeper idea: how the places we come from, the experiences we live and the influences we encounter become part of our inner identity.

Gáldar, with its distinctive landscape and cultural character, provides a personal connection to this creation. Participating in the videoclip became an experience that I wanted to transform into something lasting — an original artwork that captures the intersection between music, place and artistic expression.

This painting is not simply about an island.

It is about the island we carry within ourselves.
